AFRICA MEDIA FESTIVAL 2024

Events  /  25th May 2024

The Africa Media Festival happened on the 21st and 22nd of February at the National Museum of Kenya.

This year’s event set to establish the foundations for revolutionary innovations with a mission to catalyze transformation, cultivating optimism to reshape the African media landscape.

The intense 2-day event covered a range of topics on the state of African media from A.I, Impact, Podcasts, building a media business, serving niche digital audiences, media ethics, mental health well-being for creatives etc.

One thing that stood out from the sessions was the shift by filmmakers and media entities from focusing on reaching mass audiences to identifying niche audiences and serving them in their contexts. A.I was also a big topic with demonstrations on how African newsrooms and storytellers are adapting A.I in different stages of the production process.

It was also exciting to see ‘Softie’ used as a case study for the ‘Filmmaking for Impact’ session organized by One World Media and Doc Society.

Look out for the 3rd edition of the festival next year!
