Our Impact and Distribution Lead, Chloe Genga, has returned from the African-European Distribution Academy (AEDA) in Germany, where she spent several weeks learning from top experts in film distribution.
Here’s what Chloe had to say about her experience at the Academy:
"The residency was a total game-changer! I had the incredible opportunity to explore German film distribution systems while sharing insights into Kenya’s unique landscape. Participants from Rwanda and Ethiopia added their perspectives, making this comparison of distribution practices truly enlightening. This highlighted how we can bridge some of the main gaps in our local distribution spaces and adopt new innovative strategies for our industry’s growth.
Key takeaways? Structural frameworks in the distribution value chain are essential for efficiency and success. Plus, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach; we need to adapt to our unique industry landscapes. AEDA also provided incredible networking opportunities, fostering both local and international partnerships.
Overall, the residency was amazing for boosting professional knowledge and fostering a collaborative spirit across our markets. I’m super excited to implement these fresh strategies and contribute to the dynamic growth of our industry."
