Beneath The Tides Nakuru Screening

Events  /  21st November 2024

This month, we headed to Nakuru to screen the film to an audience that not many films explore; high school students.

We coordinated with Kimathi Secondary, Crater View Secondary, Ronaka House School, Boenix High School, and Kiamuyi Secondary School to gather 160 drama club students at Nakuru Players Theatre on July 27th. The screening featured short films ‘Stero,’ ‘Mawimbi,’ and ‘Inheritance.’

The event was under the theme ‘Cultural Legacy: The Torchbearers of Our Heritage’ with a spotlight on language and identity and celebrating cultural heritage and its role in shaping individual and collective identities.

The films were a hit, with 'STERO' emerging as a favorite among the students.

The post-screening Q&A felt like a masterclass, where students engaged directly with Actor Lucarelli Onyango, Director Tevin Kimathi, and Producer Ivy Kiru, gaining invaluable insights about the film industry.

Thanks to the support of HEVA Fund, Alliance Française Nairobi, the French Embassy in Kenya, and the French Government’s Creation Africa programme, for supporting the screening.
