We’re thrilled to share that Enkop (The Soil), directed by Angela Wanjiku Wamai and produced by Bramwel Iro, has been selected to receive €10,000 in development support from the prestigious Hubert Bals Fund! Out of 1,169 submitted projects, Enkop is among the 12 remarkable films chosen for this grant.
Set against the volatile ranch lands of Kenya, Enkop is an epic neo-Western that tells the story of fifty-five-year-old Lorna Marwa’s fight to reclaim her life. Angela Wamai, acclaimed debut feature Shimoni premiered at IFFR 2023.
Speaking about this round of funding, Hubert Bals Fund Head Tamara Tatishvili remarked:
