LBx Africa’s Impact Producer, Chloe Genga also joined other filmmakers in Nairobi for a Filmmakers Masterclass put together by Under Our Skin Film Festival.
This was an exciting opportunity to participate in a festival locally that focuses on impact-driven stories which aligns a lot with our work.
A highlight from the sessions that Chloe picked up was distribution for both film and music and the importance of contracts and managing expectations between artists and distributors. The sessions also gave perspective on the different distribution channels filmmakers can consider and make a choice between going independent or getting a sales agent.
We hope to implement some of these lessons as we navigate our distribution space at LBx Africa.
The masterclass also challenged the filmmakers to think outside the box and embrace experimental filmmaking, especially for nonfiction stories.
We’re excited for future editions of the Under Our Skin Film Festival!
