We’re thrilled to share that Victoria (formerly titled Helium) has been officially selected for FESPACO Film Festival. 

Directed by Sam Soko, Victoria is a short documentary that was part of the global ELEMENTAL short film series, which explores life through the lens of the elements in the periodic table. For Sam, helium’s light and playful properties became a lens to explore the evolving dynamics of family within the African context, particularly single motherhood. 

This selection marks an exciting milestone, as Victoria will finally be seen by audiences at FESPACO, where its themes of resilience and familial bonds will resonate deeply.
