In honor of Noella, Nick, the cast, crew, families, and local supporters of the film such as Docubox and Documentary Africa, we put together a little soiree at Unseen Nairobi to celebrate the premiere of What’s Eating My Mind.

Seeing people’s reactions to the film in real time was incredibly special. The screening was followed by a Q&A session with the Director, Noella Luka, the Producer, Sam Soko, and Nick, one of the main characters in the story.

So many important conversations came to light; the role of caregivers around someone with a mental illness, how difficult it is to access medical insurance and the extremely high prices of medication, how to identify symptoms, and what the experience is living with a mental health illness.

It was so refreshing finally having such raw conversations on a subject that is still considered taboo in so many communities.
